It has been a family tradition every New Year’s Day to have chitterlings and maws. (Some of you know what I mean). My Father spent 4 hours cleaning and cooking for what started out as 4 lbs. of raw chitterlings, of course, once cleaned and cooked only enough for 2. Me and him. No one else will eat them. My father was so excited about singing on New Year’s Eve, he forgot to turn the pot off on the stove. When he returned home from a lovely, festive evening of libations and song… he entered into a smoked-filled kitchen and charred chitterlings & maws. I know what you’re thinking…it could have been worse. Can you imaging him telling the firemen that the cause of the house fire was chitterlings on the stove! They were inedible.
Well this year, it was NOT to be a tradition continued.
If you thought chitterlings had a “smell” to them…try smelling burnt chitterlings…

This water added after the burnt ones underneath were smoldering. The picture just doesn't give the "smell" any justice.
I hope to hear from you tomorrow. Monday, 1/4/10.
I’ll have more food in the house soon. My son is going back to college already!
He took me to see Avatar today. We enjoyed it. Spending time with those you love…
I had a grand Christmas and holiday season.

Well Lori
We spoke about chit’lings and you know how I feel. Sorry that your tradition was ruined this year, maybe a good start (smile)
The call was very informative and I start tomorrow.
The three meals, with time in between is a challenge.
I always felt that we should drink 8 oz of water prior to eating, say 30+ min before, not with the meal. What do you think?
My goal is to stop eating when I am full. If I make it, and it is good, I tend to overeat. I am better eating out, because I will take a doggie bag home. I have to incorporate this in my own eating habits, since I do not eat out often.

One more comment
I purchased two outfits, great prices, and both of them are inspirations, meaning they are too small, not by much. So the next three weeks are important since I have 30 days to return them.
Lastly, why not make the program for 40+ people. Those of us approaching 60 may feel a little left out. Or make it 40-70 and beyond, whatever.
Just a thought for the old folks.
KayKay
Yes KayKay,
Drinking water before you eat is a good idea. Most people are so dehydrated that drinking water anytime is a good idea. Eating slower and eating full-macronutirnt meals will help you feel full longer. Also when you start to recognize the hunger feeling, you won’t run to the vending machine, relax into it drink some water and it will pass; then eat when you’re ready.
After some time, you’ll start to get/feel a wave of energy, during this time right before you eat, that’s natural-fat burning at work…we need to get that back or we all doomed to dieting for the rest of our lives!
I will change my age range for women on the HOT Minky Plan to
40-70, thanks for the feedback.
